Reggie Wayne Expects Medical Clearance At The End Of April

leave a comment »

After almost six months Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne says that he expects to be medically cleared to play at the end of April.

After tearing his ACL in the game against the Denver Broncos, Wayne had surgery back in October of 2013. Now hopeful to be cleared at the end of the month, Wayne would be on schedule for training camp at the end of July.

With Wayne back, quarterback Andrew Luck will have gained back one of his biggest weapons. As a 35 year old veteran, Wayne has been a sense of security for the young quarterback and the newer players that joined the team two years ago, and after Wayne left with his season ending injury the rest of the young players had to step up in order to be able to move on, as we have seen they are more than capable and showed that they can be good and some have the potential of being great even with the absents of some of the starters.

Now with the veteran receiver back for next year, and Luck progressively getting better each season, the upcoming up season looks bright. Adding former New York Giants player Hakeem Nicks into the mix next year could be better than last year. With room for improvement the Colts have the chance to go far this coming up year and I look forward to seeing what they are able to accomplish this off-season.

Results from Colts vs. Titans, Week 14

The Win: This week the Colts played against the Tennessee Titans in Nashville. And the Colts win! After three weeks of no winning games they finally win.

Highlights: In the first quarter Javarris James ran for a one yard TD.
Second quarter Manning throws to Reggie Wayne and gets 50 yards, that leads to another TD by Pierre Garcon. Another TD from Pierre Garcon after a Titans penalty makes the score 21-0 by halftime.

Third quarter Titans are starting their come back after two TDs. Colts take a field goal, making the score 28-14. Forth Quarter Colts take one more field goal after Reggie Wayne makes a 56 yard run. Now with less than a minute the Titans try for a TD, they get it, but they don’t have enough time to get the ball again to win the game. It ends with Colts taking the win 31-28.

Next Colts games:

  • Next week the Colts play at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
  • For week 16 Colts play in Oakland against the Oakland Raiders.
  • Week 17 Colts play their final regular game against the Tennessee Titans.

Colts playoff chances: To be able to win the AFC South division and make it to the playoffs the Colts must win the next three games, especially the game against the Jags. And we have to hope that the Jags will lose the game against us and at least one other game.

Jags’ schedule: The Jags this week played against the Oakland Raiders, at home, and won.

  • Week 16 they play in Indy against the Colts.
  • For week 17 they play at home against the Washington Redskins.
  • And for their last game of the regular season they play against the Houston Texans in Houston.

The Colts will need to win the next three games, especially against the Jaguars, in order to win the division. At that point, we will be tied with the Jaguars, but actually ahead of them because of the week 16 win.

Results from Colts vs. Cowboys, Week 13

leave a comment »

The Game: The Colts played in Indianapolis against the Dallas Cowboys the result…the Cowboys win in overtime 38-35.

Highlights: In the first quarter, Dallas gets a touchdown and a 30 yard field goal after Dallas got another interception, making it 10-0 Dallas. Second quarter, Peyton Manning throws a pass intended for Blaire White, but it’s intercepted by Orlando Scandrick and returned for a 40 yard touchdown. Then Manning passes to Pierre Garcon (I met him a year ago) and a touchdown. By halftime Dallas leads 17-7

Third quarter, Manning throws to Reggie Wayne for another Colts TD. David Buehler kicks a 46 yard field goal. Another pass from Manning to White is picked off again, this time by Sean Lee and returned for a 31 yard TD. Fourth quarter, Javarris James runs up the middle for a 1 yard TD. Punt blocked by Taj Smith for a TD (Colts). Score is now 35-28. John Kitna passes to Jason Witten for a TD and a two point conversion after the Eric Foster (I met him a year ago too) get a penalty for the Colts. After that Manning hurries down the field with 2:00 to go and get a TD from Javarris James and ties it 35-35 at the end of regulation.

Overtime, Colts win the coin toss and then Manning throws his fourth interception of the night to Dallas. And when Dallas got the ball David Buehler kicked a 36 yard field goal for the win of 38-35.

The standings: This puts the Colts at 6-6, 1 game behind the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are 7-5. This means the Colts have to win the next 4 games, including the one against the Jags in 2 weeks, in order to win the AFC South and make it to the playoffs.

These are not the Colts we’re used to from the last several years. Serious injuries to several key receivers have ended up in a lot of drops and missed catches. Manning’s interceptions might not be as serious if the receivers could make a few more important catches.

NFL Injuries: Today the Minnesota Vikings played against the Buffalo Bills in Minnesota. Brett Favre the Vikings quarterback was attempting a pass and got stuck in the middle of a big pile, and in the process hurt his shoulder. He did not return for the rest of the game. I will have more about the Colts injuries in another post.

Next games: Next week, the Colts are going to play against the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night in Nashville, and the Cowboys will play against the Philadelphia Eagles.
