Week 14 recap

leave a comment »

The end of the season is coming to a close with only three more games left in the regular season. And as such teams are faceing off in order to fight for the last spot in the playoff hunt, so far eight teams have been eliminated from the playoffs.

The week started off with the Denver Broncos against the Oakland Raiders, so far the Broncos have made it into the playoffs, the Raiders have been eliminated from the playoffs and the Broncos won 26-13. The Indianapolis Colts played against the Tennessee  Titans, the last time the Colts played against the Titans they (Colts) won in overtime, this time it seemed like it would end differently as the Titans were taking an early lead at the end of the half. But the Colts came back strong and won 27-23.

Surprising wins:

  • The Carolina Panthers beat the 11-1 Atlanta Falcons 30-20. The Falcons are the number one team for the NFC.
  • After the loss of a player and the prosicution of another, the Cowboys rallied together and beating the Cincinnati Bengals with a last second field goal 20-19.
  • The Minnesota Vikings beat the Chicago Bears 21-14 making the NFC North wide open to anyone.
  • Washington Redskins beat the Baltimore Ravens in OT 31-28, but not before RGIII got a mildly sprained knee.

The New England Patriots played against the Houstan Texans last night in a fight to see who was on top in the AFC. The Patriots proved that they are by far the best, as the Texans lost 42-14.  This week more teams have to opportunity go grab a place in the playoffs and these up coming games are going to the ones to watch as the last few games wind down to get ready for the 2013 Super Bowl in New Orleans.

Recap of week 13

leave a comment »

Recap of week 13.

This week the Indianapolis Colts played against the Detroit Lions, this was a good match up for both of the teams and challenged each of them in offense and with defense. The first play for the Colts didn’t go so well as Ndamukong Suh sacked Andrew Luck, but that didn’t stop the Colts from getting a TD a couple possessions later. With the score now 7-3 the Lions were determined to take the lead as they have just barely lost their past three games, one of them being last week against the Houston Texans. Both teams played really well, and this game was packed with amazing arm strength and unbelievable catches. The most exciting part came with only 1:34 in the game the Colts were down 33-28 and needed a TD to win, Luck moved the team down field with a swiftness and precision that you wouldn’t expect out of a rookie. When they got into range the first three throws were off and the clock was down to 4 seconds left, people on the edge of their seast awaiting the results of the game, Luck threw a pass to a wide open Donny Avery  for a TD. The Colts win the game 35-33.

Surprising wins:

  • The Seattle Seahawks took the Chicago Bears by surprise and beat them 23-17 in overtime.
  • For awhile it was unclear as to who would win in the New York Jets vs the Arizona Cardinals but the Jets managed to barely beat the Cardinals 7-6.
  • And after Peyton Manning told the crowd to quiet down the Broncos beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

First NFL week

with one comment

The football season has officially begun, with the New York Giants vs the Dallas Cowboys for the opening game with the Cowboys winning. And yesterday had amazing catches, and a record that hasn’t been broken for over 60 years.

Yesterday the Indianapolis Colts played against the Chicago Bears, and this was also Andrew Luck’s first game as a Colt. The game started out in the Colts favor with a sack to Jay Cutler and an interception that led to a TD, all within the first quarter. But the Bears came back and tied the score.  Afterwards Cutler seemed to get his game on and found reciever after reciever and gained the lead. Unfortunatly the Colts could not take back the lead and the game ended 41-21 in the Bears favor. Even though the Colts lost Andrew Luck had made his first NFL TD pass, to Donne Avery.

Another rookie QB that had his first game was Robert Griffin III, with amazing passes for a win for the Redskins. RGIII also was the first QB in over 60 years to get 40+ points in the first game. He certainly has had a great start to the season, and he has a good furture ahead of him.

One other game that was amazing was the Denver Broncos vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. This was Peyton Mannings first game back into football after 610 days on not playing, and he hasn’t lost his touch. For some it was sad to see Manning in another color but others it was a celebration time, Manning was back and playing. Happy to say they won the game 31-19 and have a chance to make it to the playoffs.

Championship week

leave a comment »

This week was the Championship games for both the NFC and AFC.

The games This week the Pittsburgh Steelers played against the New York Jets. The result: the Steelers won 24-19.

Next the Green Bay Packers against the Chicago Bears: This rivalry has history. However, this time the Packers take the win over the Bears 21-14. This actually was a very interesting game. The Bears had put in their third string QB Caleb Hanie. And managed to catch the Bears up some, but not enough to win the NFC title.

Stats This will be the Steelers 7th time in the Superbowl.

Therefore, the NFC champions are Green Bay Packers and the NFC champions are the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And so in 3 weeks these two teams will meet in Dallas, Texas for Superbowl XLV.

Divisional playoff results

leave a comment »

This week was a week of surprises, as the two leaders of both divisions have been eliminated from the playoffs.

The games This week the Baltimore Ravens played against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They Steelers won 31-24. It really was unbelievable how the Steelers were able to make their come back in the second half. But anything can happen in the playoffs.

The next game was the green Bay Packers against the Atlanta Falcons, the NFL’s second leading team. The result, Green Bay wins 48-21. It was really surprising to see the Packers win, especially when they had to beat one of the top teams in the NFL. Hopefully they can continue their drive to Superbowl 45.

The Seattle Seahawks played against the Chicago Bears this week as well. Another rivalry that was sure to be a good game. But in the end the Bears won 35-24. It was amazing that the Seahawks beat last years champions in last weeks game but its still upsetting to see their streak coming to an end.

The final game this week was one that many will remember, New York Jets vs. the NFL’s leading team, the New England Patriots. In the regular season these two teams met twice, one resulted in the Jets winning 28-14; the second time they met resulted in the Patriots winning 45-3. The lose was so humiliating to the Jets that they had actually hoped to play them again in the playoffs to get them back for their last game together. The result, jets win 28-21.

Stats With the Jets beating the Patriots, the Jets became the only team that has beaten the Colts and the Patriots back-to-back. This week Tom Brady got sacked 5 times. In the game Tom Brady (#12) made his first interception in 330 throws and hasn’t thrown an interception since week 6.

Championship games This week is the final week before the Superbowl. This week will decide who is going and who is not.

NFC round

Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears @ 3:00 on Sunday. They will be playing at Soldier Field in Chicago.

AFC round

New York Jets vs. Pittsburgh Steelers @ 6:30 on Sunday. They will be playing In Pittsburgh.

Divisional playoffs

leave a comment »

This week is the divisional part of the playoffs. These are the teams that will be playing this weekend.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
(AFC) on Saturday @ 4:30

Green Bay Packers vs. Atlanta Falcons (NFC) on Saturday @ 8:00

New York Jets vs. New England Patriots (AFC) On Sunday @ 4:30

Seattle Seahawks vs. Chicago Bears (NFC) On Sunday @ 1:00

But only four more teams will make it to the championship game and eventually the Superbowl. It should be interesting to see who will make it this year and who won’t, considering last years two Superbowl teams were eliminated last week in the wild-card.
