Indiana Pacers vs. Miami Heat Game 2: Results

Last night the Indiana Pacers played in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat. The Heat led the series 1-0 after a last second shot by Lebron James in OT on Wednesday. But the Pacers pulled together after the painful loss and beat the Heat 97-93.

In Game 1 neither the Heat nor the Pacers controlled the game and it was always close but the Pacers quickly took the lead in this game 24-12 within the first quarter. The Pacers worked better together in this game and their defense had them in control of the ball more often. The Pacers were on top at the end of the first quarter 28-22.

Lebron James 12 out of the 14 points that the Heat got in the second quarter, but also had to sit on the bench for a good part of the second. With the time closing in on the half the Heat make one more attempt at taking the lead but are not able to manage it and the Pacers lead at the half 57-47.

After the half the teams continued to play as they had in the first half, but things started to pick up in the fourth quarter. With six minutes left in the game the Heat when on a scoring spree and caught up with the Pacers. With three minutes left the Pacers got three personal fouls and two technical fouls. Now the game is tied at 88. The teams go back and forth with tying the game, but eventually the Pacers take the lead after George Hill scored three out of his three free-throws. And after stealing the ball twice in a row from Lebron James, the Pacers win 97-93.

Game 3 will be in Indiana at Bankers Life Field house Sunday May 26th, at 8:30 where the Pacers will try and take the lead in the series.

Indiana Fever vs. San Antonio Silver Stars: Results

Last night the Indiana Fever played against the San Antonio Silver Stars in the Fever’s first game of the 2013 season. Though the start was a little rocky for the Fever, they pulled through and won 79-64.

It was a tough start for the Fever as they struggled to get into a rhythm as three of their best players are out till mid season  The Silver Stars were ahead for the entire first quarter and the quarter ended with the Silver Stars on top 19-14. But soon the Fever got their game together and took the lead 34-30. But with a last second shot, the Silver Stars led at the half 35-34.

After the half the Fever took the lead and pulled apart, and got their biggest lead of the game of 20 points. The Silver Stars continued to give their best throughout the rest of the game but were unable to surpass the Fever again. Tamika Catchings and Shevonte Zellous led the team with contributing 19 points each and the Fever won the game 79-64.

Both teams had to play without some of their regular players. The Silver Stars were without star players Becky Hammon and Sophia Young. And the Fever were without Erin Phillips, Jessica Davenport, and Jeanette Pohlen are out till perhaps midseason due to injuries, and rookie Layashia Clarendon was unable to make it because she is graduating on Saturday the 25th (congratulations to her). But both of the teams played to the best of their ability despite not having some of their key players.

The Fever’s next game will be their home opener on Friday May 31st @ 7:00 pm against the Atlanta Dream.
