Indiana Fever vs. New York Liberty

leave a comment »

Today the Indiana Fever played against the New York Liberty, and I have to say that it was one of the most exciting games I have ever been to.

Katie Douglas opened up the game for us with a 3-pointer, but the Liberty were quick to take the lead afterwards. But they quickly lost it as the Fever caught up and took the lead. At the end of the first quarter the Fever lead 26-20. In the second quarter the fever kept their lead but Brian January got a sprained ankle and had to be helped off the court and did not return until the third quarter.  The Fever lead 52-43 at the half.

In the third quarter Brian January returned and helped put more points on the board before the end of the third the Fever keep the lead 66-59 but with the Liberty slowly creeping up. The Liberty continue to climb up closer and closer to tying the game, and with 4 minuets left the Liberty take the lead by one point 74-73. For the rest of the game the Fever and the Liberty were neck-and-neck for every 3-pointer the Fever made, the Liberty answered with another 3-pointer.

With the game tied at 82-82 Tamika Catchings gets 2 shots at the line and makes both of them, making the game 84-82. With just over 8 seconds the Liberty have only one play left to either tie the game or win it. And after a dropped ball and scrambling from both teams Katie Douglas ended up with the ball and the game was finished. The Fever win 84-82.The game was close at the very end but the Fever pulled through and got another win

The Fever are gettting ready to play against the Los Angeles Sparks, where former Fever player Ebony Hoffman will get to see her former teammate once again. The game will be Thursday the 12th @ 7:00 pm in Indiana. Afterwards the Fever will have a much deserved break for the 2012 Olympics in London, where Catchings will play for her final time in the Olympics.

Indiana Fever results against the San Antonio Silver Stars

Last night the Indiana Fever played against the San Antonio Silver Stars, but sadly didn’t win.

The game started off slow with the Fever getting the first points of the game but falling behind 11-2. but that was as far as the Silver Stars got for the first quarter as the first quarter ended with the Fever on top 23-11. The second quarter was almost the same as the first as the fever took a 15-point lead ending the half 43-28.

After the half the Silver Stars seemed to gain momentum and quickly put points on the board and gave the Fever a hard time of keeping the lead, the 3rd quarter ended with the Fever barely leading 59-57. But after 3 minuets the Silver Stars take the lead back 65-61. The Fever continuously got super close to taking the lead back before the end of the game but were not able to pull it off.

The game ended with a final basket from Tully Bevilaqua (former fever player) and the Silver Stars won 88-72. The Fever played hard and they played their best.

The Fever’s next home game is July 7th against the Chicago Sky.
