Giants 2012 Super Bowl XLVI Champions
Last night the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI, 21 – 17.
This was a long awaited rematch for the Patriots after the 2007 Super Bowl where the Giants won and took the Super Bowl title.
The Patriots got to a rocky start when Tom Brady got called for intentional grounding while he was in the endzone, which resulted in a safety, and put the Giants up 2 – 0. That was the first play for the Patriots. Afterwards it all seemed to go well for the Giants when Eli Manning threw a TD pass to Victor Cruz – 8 – 0.
The first quarter belonged to the Giants, but the Patriots made their comeback in the second quarter with a field goal along with a Brady to Danny Woodhead TD.
At half-time the score was 10-9 with the Patriots only one point ahead.
The third quarter started off with a Patriots TD pass to Aaron Hernandez. And the Giants only scored 2 field goals.
At the beginning of the fourth quarter the Giants were down 17-15, and the score remained that way until there were 2 minutes left in the game. The Giants got the ball back and made their way down the field. With one minute left, Ahmad Bradshaw ran for a TD that made the score 21-17, Giants on top.
That left the Patriots with :57 seconds to travel 80 yards downfield and score a touchdown. Brady’s first 3 pass attempts went incomplete, but they got a first down on their fourth attempt.
With only 2 seconds on the clock, Brady threw one last Hail Mary pass all the way to the endzone where ten or more players waited to catch the ball. The ball fell incomplete, and that was the end of the game. The New York Giants won, 21 – 17, and are now the 2012 Super Bowl XLVI World Champions.
Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Jim Caldwell to Stay. For Now.
Jim Caldwell is still in as the head coach for the Indianapolis Colts, for right now.
Jim Irsay, owner of the Colts, just announced that Caldwell’s status is still under evaluation at this time, pending the new search for the new vice chairman.
Local sports radio has speculated that Reggie McKenzie, director of football operations for the Green Bay Packers, will replace Bill Polian as vice chairman.
Indiana Fever vs. Chicago Sky
Tonight was opening night and the first game of the season for the Indiana Fever. The first team they played against is the Chicago Sky. This year the Fever had many more people attend their opening game than the opening game in 2009.
The game –> Throughout the whole game the Fever maintained the lead, until the 4th quarter when they nearly lost it and dropped to only a 3 point lead. They managed to keep the lead and eventually win with a score of 65-57. During the game there were many jump balls and steals from the Fever that kept the game exciting.
Stats–> Katie Douglas scored a total of 19 points for the team, and Tangela Smith scored another 16.
New players–> With the new players this year, the 2011 season is looking like a promising season. With former Phoenix Mercury player Tangela Smith and the talent she brings, Smith is a good addition to the Fever. Another new member is Erin Phillips from Australia. Phillips has played pro basketball for 3 years. The newest member to the team is Jeanette Pohlen from Stanford. This is Pohlen’s first Pro season.
This should be an exciting and amazing season, and I am super excited to see the players play their best. Fever games are certainly a great time for families of all ages and I cannot wait to go to the next game.
The next Fever game is on Friday, June 10th @ 7:00, against the New York Liberty.
Indiana Fever Updates
Indianapolis has always been a huge sport state with the Indy 500, Colts, Pacers, and the Indiana Fever.
There are only 12 teams in the WNBA and Indiana is one of the states lucky enough to have a team. It is so much fun to go and watch the games in the summer.
However, this off-season for the Fever has been full of moving and switching players. Ebony Hoffman has now switched to the L.A Sparks. Ebony has played 6 years in Pro Basketball and all of them have been with the Fever.
Tully Bevilaqua has moved to the San Antonio Silver Stars. Tully has played 11 years in pro basketball, with her last 6 years spent with the Fever. It is sad for some people and a happy time for others but for one thing, it will be interesting to see how they all do with their new teams.
Nevertheless, we still have some of the best players, with Katie Douglas, Tamika Catchings, Jessica Davenport, Tammy Sutton-Brown and many others. The newest member of the Fever is Tangela Smith, who replaced Ebony. Smith has played 12 years in Pro Basketball, and we look forward to seeing her play this season with the Fever.
I am looking forward to this season for the Fever, and it should be fun as always for my family and me.
Bob Sanders contract with Chargers
So two days ago NFL.com announced that Bob Sanders of the Indianapolis Colts has signed a one-year contract with the San Diego Chargers after being let go by the Colts.
Sanders had played with the Colts for about 6 years. In addition, he had played in the Pro Bowl twice, in 2005 and 2007. As well as won three player of the year in 2007 (GMC, AFC defensive player, and AP NFL Defensive player of the year.
He was a good player for the Colts and unfortunately was not able to play much in the 2010 season because of a torn right bicep, which put him on injury reserve for the rest of the season.
Former head coach, Tony Dungy, had also called sanders “The Eraser,” because how good he was as making plays that it made up for any mistakes that any of the other players had made. Then there was the nickname “The Hitman,” because of how hard Sanders could hit.
It will be fun to see how he does with his new team. And I cannot wait for the time the Colts and Chargers play. The Chargers had better hope that Sanders does not get any serious injuries this year, because he is a valuable player.
Let us also hope that there will be an agreement soon, so that we can have our football season back next year, as well as the Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.
Indianapolis Pacers
So now, that football season is over what else is there to watch? Well the Indianapolis Pacers season is a little bit more than halfway into its 34th year.
Indianapolis Pacers History: The first men’s basketball team for Indy was the Indianapolis Jets in 1948; they had a record of 18-42, that was their only season. The next Indy basketball team was the Indianapolis Olympians the following year. They won the NBA’a Western Division with a 39-25 record. They only played for four years.
Then after a 27 year gap with no team, in 1976 the Pacers where created. The Pacers had a hard time when they first started, only winning one season out of their first 13 seasons. After about a decade and a half of trying and not succeeding, the team finally began to play .500 games in the 1990s. By the 1995s, the Pacers had become one of the Eastern Conferences top clubs.
So from 1994-200 the Pacers had gotten to the conference finals 5 times, won two central division titles, and then advanced to the NBA finals in 2000.
This team as seen many hard times, but they are a hard working team. The Indy Pacers are really a team worth watching.
Tomorrow they will be playing at home against the Utah Jazz. They have only played this team once before (this season) and lost. Let us see if they can get back at them for the previous loss.
Super Bowl 45 Results
This week was the week of Super Bowl 45 with the Green Bay Packers against the Pittsburgh Steelers and it was one to remember.
With the Packers, winning the coin toss and choosing to kick the game began.
First quarter: The Packers are the ones who get the first points of the game with an Aaron Rogers pass to Jordy Nelson (#87). Right when the Steelers get the ball back on third down. Ben Roethlisberger throws an interception and Nick Collins runs it back for a GB TD, now with the score 14-0 and still in the 1st quarter.
Now in the second quarter the Steelers finally get their first points with a FG. Then Jarrett Bush (#24) had his turn at grabbing an interception from Roethlisberger. Soon after that, GB got their third TD on a pass from Rogers to Greg Jennings for a total 21 yards. With 36 seconds left the Steelers, manage to get a TD throw to Hines Ward. Now with the score 21-10 it goes into halftime.
Halftime: Packers are winning 21-10.
In the third quarter, when the Packers get the ball first they cannot make any points out of it. Then the Steelers manage to score again with a hand off to Rashard Mendenhall with a TD. Score is now 21-17. Then Clay Matthews and Desmond Bishop force a fumble. Shortly after that, the Packers get another TD 28-17. Then the Steelers get a TD and a 2-pt conversion making the score 28-25.
In the fourth quarter the Packers get a FG. Now all the packers have to do is hold off the Steelers. Now with it being fourth down and five the Steelers have only one more chance to get a first down and still have a chance. However, they miss it and the Green Bay Packers take the win of 31-25 and are the Super Bowl 45 Champions.
So now, all I have to say is congratulations to the Green Bay Packers.

Championship week
This week was the Championship games for both the NFC and AFC.
The games This week the Pittsburgh Steelers played against the New York Jets. The result: the Steelers won 24-19.
Next the Green Bay Packers against the Chicago Bears: This rivalry has history. However, this time the Packers take the win over the Bears 21-14. This actually was a very interesting game. The Bears had put in their third string QB Caleb Hanie. And managed to catch the Bears up some, but not enough to win the NFC title.
Stats This will be the Steelers 7th time in the Superbowl.
Therefore, the NFC champions are Green Bay Packers and the NFC champions are the Pittsburgh Steelers.
And so in 3 weeks these two teams will meet in Dallas, Texas for Superbowl XLV.
Divisional playoff results
This week was a week of surprises, as the two leaders of both divisions have been eliminated from the playoffs.
The games This week the Baltimore Ravens played against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They Steelers won 31-24. It really was unbelievable how the Steelers were able to make their come back in the second half. But anything can happen in the playoffs.
The next game was the green Bay Packers against the Atlanta Falcons, the NFL’s second leading team. The result, Green Bay wins 48-21. It was really surprising to see the Packers win, especially when they had to beat one of the top teams in the NFL. Hopefully they can continue their drive to Superbowl 45.
The Seattle Seahawks played against the Chicago Bears this week as well. Another rivalry that was sure to be a good game. But in the end the Bears won 35-24. It was amazing that the Seahawks beat last years champions in last weeks game but its still upsetting to see their streak coming to an end.
The final game this week was one that many will remember, New York Jets vs. the NFL’s leading team, the New England Patriots. In the regular season these two teams met twice, one resulted in the Jets winning 28-14; the second time they met resulted in the Patriots winning 45-3. The lose was so humiliating to the Jets that they had actually hoped to play them again in the playoffs to get them back for their last game together. The result, jets win 28-21.
Stats With the Jets beating the Patriots, the Jets became the only team that has beaten the Colts and the Patriots back-to-back. This week Tom Brady got sacked 5 times. In the game Tom Brady (#12) made his first interception in 330 throws and hasn’t thrown an interception since week 6.
Championship games This week is the final week before the Superbowl. This week will decide who is going and who is not.
